Nobody should doubt that we can make a difference and cultivate kindness toward animals.  The problem is that the animals keep reproducing and become a nuisance.  The amazing fact in Veracruz is that so many animals were brought in by their young guardians.



  Nadie debe dudar que podemos hacer una diferencia y cultivar bondad hacia los animales.  El problema radica en que los animales se reproducen y se convierten en una molestia.  Lo sorprendente en Veracruz fue que muchos de los animales fueron llevados por sus guardianes jóvenes.



On August 17-18, 2008, Spay/Panama held a blitz at the Infoplaza in Veracruz with the coordination of residents, vet students and the Health Ministry.  257 animals were sterilized (200 dogs and 57 cats).  This project was made possible with the support of D. Reuben and the MRF.  

El 17-18 de agosto de 2008, Spay/Panamá tuvo una campaña de operaciones en el Infoplaza de Veracruz con la coordinación de los residentes, estudiantes de veterinaria y el Ministerio de Salud.  257 animales fueron esterilizados (200 perros y 57 felinos).  Este proyecto fue posible con la ayuda de D. Reuben y el MRF.


 
The people arrived early morning; the schedule for Sunday was 113 animals and we did 171 operations.  The schedule for Monday was 38 and we did 86.


La gente comenzó a llegar a tempranas horas; el registro para el Domingo era 113 animales y terminamos operando 171.  El registro para el Lunes era 38 e hicimos 86.

The Health Ministry donated the rabies vaccines.   El Ministerio de Salud donó las vacunas contra rabia.



Spay/Panama does not reject any animal that the guardian can not give the contribution and it is very demoralizing when people that can afford a regular private clinic bring their pure breed animals and expect the operation at a subsidized cost.   Spay/Panamá no rechaza ningún animal que el guardián no puede dar la contribución y es muy deprimente cuando personas que pueden pagar una clínica privada traen sus animales de raza y esperan pagar la contribución subsidiada.
